Born in 1994 in Swatow, CN
Lives and works in Paris, FR
An observer of contemporary life, Xuteng Chén is interested in social media and news images. He explores the relationship between photography and painting as well as issues of popular culture and collective memory. His work draws on imagery from photography, social posts, and videos, making ingenious use of cropping, close-ups, and framing, working with a muted palette to offer distinctive perspectives on the medium of painting.
Xuteng Chén (born in 1994, lives and works in Paris, FR) studied at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris, FR). His work has recently been featured in group exhibitions at Unit 1 Gallery (London, ENG, UK), MO.CO. (Montpellier, FR), Maison des Ensembles (Paris,FR), and Carré à la Farine (Versailles, FR).
