Né en 1982 à Melbourne, Australie
Vit et travaille à Albi, France

Le champ lexical figuratif de Jordy Kerwick est, sans aucun doute, un prétexte à la peinture. Ses compositions aux couleurs vives, presque dépourvues de perspective, immortalisent à la fois des sujets totalement fantasmés et d’autres plus autobiographiques, souvent réunis sur une même toile. Il revisite également des thèmes classiques de la peinture, notamment les natures mortes et les vanités. Il y intègre des éléments du quotidien aux connotations antagonistes, comme des fleurs et des cigarettes, juxtaposant ainsi les aspects séduisants et ternes de la vie.

Son iconographie, immédiatement reconnaissable, repose sur un ensemble d’éléments graphiques récurrents, presque à la manière de motifs, comprenant des cobras, des têtes de loup, des plumes, des femmes nues ou encore des éléments végétaux. Les animaux prédateurs sont de plus en plus présents dans ses oeuvres récentes, comme pour rappeler à l’Homme sa nature primitive.
